GUWAHATI, Nov 29 The cricket teams of India and New Zealand left for Jaipur from the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International airport around 1:30 this afternoon. Jaipur will host the second match of the series on December 1, which would be a day-night affair.
Both the teams were seen off from the Guwahati airport under tight security cover.
Three star Indian players, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina and S Sreesanth, visited the historic Kamakya temple on top of Nilachal Hills in the city before boarding their flight.
As the players sought the blessings of the Goddess, the local crowd pushed and shoved to catch a glimpse of their favourite cricketers. A sizeable number of cricket fans were also seen waving the players from both the sides at the airport.
Hosts India, on Sunday, secured a 1-0 lead in the ongoing Airtel One Day International series beating the Kiwis by 40 runs in the series opener in the Nehru stadium.
Meanwhile, the RG Baruah Sports complex today wore a deserted look with only a few security personnel seen deployed. Men employed by the organizers were also seen dismantling the makeshift structures erected for the match.
Heaps of garbage and leftovers were also seen scattered all over the sports complex.
