India must take up cause of Hindus in Bangla: VHP

By CORRESPONDENT

JORHAT, March 18 India has the responsibility to protect Hindus in Bangladesh, said Dr Praveen Bhai Togadia, international executive president of the Vishwa Hindu Parished (VHP) at a press conference at Press Club here today.

Dr Togadia was of the opinion that if the neighbouring country carries out atrocities on the Hindus, India should stop the supply of rice, water and salt to Bangladesh. Economic blockade against Bangladesh would compel them to stop harassing the Hindus there, he added.

Criticising the AIUDF the VHP leader said there was no difference between the idealism followed by most of the fundamentalist Islamic groups in Afghanistan and AIUDF. All of them followed the preachings and teachings of Deoband. As AIUDF was a Deobandi organization, its leader Ajmal was a fundamentalist and a separatist activist, he added.

He also said that the illegal migrants from Bangladesh to Assam had been living here under the direct patronage of Tarun Gogoi-led Government in Assam. Gogoi had forgotten the idealism of brave General Lachit Borphukan who fought against Moguls and saved the motherland in the 17th century. If the illegal migrants from Bangladesh remained in this land, after Tarun Gogoi, Badaruddin Ajmal would be the Chief Minister of Assam, he warned.

Dr Togadia criticised the governments decision to open a branch of Aligarh Muslim University in Assam. He said that to start such an institute in this land meant that Assam would become the second Pakistan.

Talking about the sentiments of the Bodos in Assam he appreciated their effort to expel the illegal immigrants from their land which every Assamese should undertake.
