India Club tourney from Jan 28

GUWAHATI, Jan 25 - The stage is set at the India Club here for hosting the 18th Anup Lahoty India Club Open Tennis Championship. Giving details about the championship in a press conference here today, India Club secretary Anupam Choudhury said, around 250 to 300 players, mostly from Assam, will be seen in action where competitions will be conducted for boys-U-12, U-14, U-18 and girls U-12, U-14, U-18 singles along with men�s singles and doubles, veteran doubles.

Choudhury said players from neighbouring States like Meghalaya and Manipur will also participate in the five-day meet.

The tournament will carry AITA ranking points and a total scholarship amount of Rs 75,000.

Gaurav Chowdhury and Priyanuj Dutta Lahkar have been appointed as tournament director and chief referee respectively. India Club president Abani Baruah informed that the championship will be sponsored by NTL Steel, NRL, Verma Sports, Kamrup Cement, Cent Ply Ltd.
