India cannot develop without NE: Acharya

DIMAPUR, Jan 25 - Stating that development of India means the development of every nook and corner of the country, Assam and Nagaland Governor PB Acharya today said India cannot develop without the development of Northeastern region. That is why Government of India is according so much of urgent importance towards immediate progress and development of this region, Acharya said in his message to the people of the two States on the eve of 67th Republic Day.

He said steps have been initiated towards the development and improvement of infrastructure and communication network of the region with immediate effect. �Let us work in unison to make Look East & Act East a reality,� he urged.

Noting that North East has lots of God-given natural resources, the Governor said, �Let our universities and young students get prepared by the new curriculum and learn how to create wealth and prosperity by utilising the natural resources.�

�Our capacity to increase production of solar energy, organic food, flora & fauna, care for ecology should be every one�s agenda,� he stressed. On Nagaland, Acharya said the State has all the potentials for development of education, electricity and employment � the three �Es� of progress � through which rapid progress can be achieved. The State is a storehouse of resources to achieve unparalleled all-round progress, he added.

�All it requires is the development of human skills through vocational education to optimise the utility of the available resources. It is time for us all to act now and without delay in a peaceful atmosphere of peace and progress,� he stated.

�Our greatest strength lies in our adherence to the values of unity amidst diversity.�

January 26, 2016 also incidentally being the birth centenary day of freedom fighter Padmashree Rani Gaidinliu, the Governor urged all to salute her and all other freedom fighters. Underlining that 2016 is a challenging year for Nagaland and its people, he said, �We want peace and development. Let everyone of us be soldiers to work in unity for this goal.�

He also said Prime Minister Narendra Modiji�s political will to solve North East insurgency in general and Nagaland in particular has resulted in the framework of peace agreement with NSCN-IM. �Let us all unite and see that all the factions unite and join in the framework of peace agreement,� he stated.

�Let us all contribute towards building a �Swachh and Samridhha� golden Nagaland. Let us strengthen India.�

Acharya also stressed on building strong and clean characters as only the clean and the strong have the courage and the selfless dedication to work for the progress of the State and the nation.
