KOKRAJHAR, Feb 28 - The indefinite Kokrajhar bandh, jointly called by the Bengali Yuba Kalyan Parisad and Bengali Babosai Kalyan Parisad, has been called off this afternoon in view of the ongoing HS and HSLC examination and assurance given by the district administration to meet the demands of the organisations.
The indefinite bandh was called since Sunday night following the kidnapping of a local businessman Ranjit Dutta on February 21 last from near his residence at Bhabanipur-Titaguri under Kokrajhar PS by armed miscreants. Till date the police have failed to trace the kidnapped businessman.
The organisations had called the indefinite Kokrajhar district bandh demanding security and immediate action by the district administration for early rescue of the businessman from the captivity of the kidnappers, among others. It may be mentioned here that the Kokrajjhar district administration has also appealed to a cross-section of the people to maintain peace and normalcy in Kokrajhar.
