Increased monsoon rainfall in NE from June 24

GUWAHATI, June 22 - Monsoon is expected to gather strength over the NE region of the country from June 24, said sources at the Regional Meteorology Centre (RMC), Guwahati here today.

According to the sources, monsoon rainfall activities are expected to increase over Arunachal Pradesh Meteorological Sub-division from June 24. Monsoon rainfall activities are expected to increase over the Assam-Meghalaya and Nagaland-Manipur-Mizoram-Tripura Meteorological Sub-divisions from June 25.

It needs mention here the NE region has been divided into three meteorological sub-divisions � Arunachal Pradesh, Assam-Meghalaya and Nagaland-Manipur-Mizoram-Tripura.

Today, because of the presence of a low pressure area over the North Bay of Bengal, rainfall activities over the NE region got reduced.

Guwahati today recorded a day (maximum) temperature of 36.4 degree Celsius, which was 4.5 degree Celsius above its normal day temperature for the period. Dibrugarh today recorded a day temperature of 32 degree Celsius (0.7 degree Celsius above normal), while Tezpur recorded a day temperature of 34.1 degree Celsius (1.7degree Celsius), Silchar recorded a day temperature of 33.4 degree Celsius (1.2 degree Celsius), Dhubri recorded a day temperature of 33.4 degree Celsius (3.1 degree Celsius) and Shillong recorded a day temperature of 26.4 degree Celsius (2.7 degree Celsius).

Cherrapunjee today recorded a day temperature of 25.7 degree Celsius (3.2 degree Celsius above normal), while Passighat recorded a day temperature of 32.4 degree Celsius (1.6 degree Celsius), Imphal recorded a day temperature of 30.5 degree Celsius (1.1 degree Celsius) and Agartala today recorded a day temperature of 34.6 degree Celsius (2.7 degree Celsius above normal).
