Imran Shah conferred Sayed Abdul Malik Bota

GOLAGHAT, March 11 � The Sayed Abdul Malik Sahitya Bota was conferred on Imran Shah, prominent writer and president of the Asam Sahitya Sabha on March 9 at a public meeting held at the Golaghat Ameteur Theatre Hall.

The meeting was presided over by Khirod Kumar Goswami, president of Golaghat Sahitya Sabha and was addressed by renowned writer Dr Laksminandan Bora as the chief guest.

Dr Bora underlined the manifold achievements of Sayed Abdul Malik in the field of Assamese literature. The other speakers who highlighted the literary activities of Sayed Abdul Malik were Prafulla Chandra Bora, a writer and Md Wazidur Rahman, a writer and educationist.

Dr Laksminandan Bora formally handed over the award to Imran Shah. The award consists of a seleng sador, a citation and a cheque.

In the meeting, a novel by Syed Abdul Malik titled Adharshila, which was translated into English by Dr Nazim Hussain, was released by Dr Azit Barua, a writer and chairman of Golaghat Municipal Board.

Earlier, Anil Sarma, secretary of GSS explained the objective of the meeting while the welcome address was delivered by Dr Nazim Hussain.

It may be mentioned here that the family members of late Sayed Abdul Malik had instituted this award in 2014 in order to commemorate the life and literary genius of Sayed Abdul Malik.
