IMPHAL, Oct 17 - In observance of World Food Day, the All Manipur Nupi Marup (AMNM) took out a protest rally here yesterday demanding immediate implementation of National Food Security Act (NFSA) in Manipur.
The protesters, mainly womenfolk, took to the street to submit a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner on the issue. The memorandum asked the State Government to make the Public Distribution System effective and to make food items available to all the families at subsidised rates. It also asked for measures to stop hoarding in order to curb manipulation of prices.
Maisnam Sakhi Devi of AMNM said the FSA has been implemented all over India since 2013, but the State is unable to implement it till now.
