Imphal, Mandalay flight service

IMPHAL, Nov 23 - The much-awaited Imphal-Mandalay chartered flight service began today, which is expected to boost air connectivity with Myanmar. Myanmar�s private carrier, Air KBZ, will operate the service in association with KB Enterprises, a Manipur-based tour operator, with the support of the Manipur Transport Department. Air KBZ had signed an MoU with KB Enterprises on July 3.

The inaugural flight from Mandalay touched down at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport here at 11.30 am.

Manipur Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayantakumar Singh, Minister of Consumers Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Karam Shyam, Minister of Education Th Radheshyam, chairman of Tourism Corporation Manipur Limited Dr Sapam Ranjan, Chief Secretary Dr J Suresh Babu, Principal Secretary P Vaiphei, Director of Transport Department Mercina Panmei and others welcomed the passengers.

The chartered flight service will operate thrice a week. The State Government has urged the Ministry of Civil Aviation for a regular Imphal-Mandalay flight service.
