IMA Manipur bags award for FacebookLive event on pandemic

IMPHAL, Dec 21 - The Indian Medical Association�s (IMA) Manipur state branch bagged the national-level President Appreciation Award along with its Honorary State Secretary Dr Ng Arunkumar Singh adjudged the Best State Secretary Award for meritorious service during 2019-20 for spearheading awareness campaign on COVID-19 in the North-eastern state.

President Dr Shyamkumar Laishram and State Secretary Dr Ng Arunkumar Singh of IMA�s Manipur state branch in a press release here said that the association had broadcast 24 episodes of FacebookLive programmes on COVID-19 and had participated in more than 200 awareness drives on COVID-19 in the state.

They also informed that IMA-CGP (IMA-College of General Practitioner) Wing, the academic wing of IMA and Doctors on Pedals (DOP), the cycling wing of IMA, Manipur state branch was formed, besides enrolling maximum number of new members in 2019-2020 during this difficult phase.

When contacted, Dr Arunkumar said that they enrolled more than 80 new members, a record among small states in the country.

Afterall, more than 40 specialists from different specialities such as microbiologists, epidemiologists, physicians, gynaecologists, psychiatrists, programme officers etc., shared their knowledge in dealing with COVID-19 during the FacebookLive programme, he said, adding that the credit goes to the state working president Dr Shyamkumar Laishram in particular for his dedication and support.
