IMPHAL, March 20 Public protest demanding implementation of Inner Line Permit System(ILPS) in Manipur to safeguard the interest of the indigenous population is gaining momentum in the State.
Womenfolk continued to stage sit-in demonstrations demanding the introduction of ILPS and amendment of the recently passed Manipur Regulation of Visitors, Tenants and Migrant Workers (MRVT&MW) Bill, 2015.
The womenfolk in Moirangkampu village and its neighbouring villages in Imphal East district staged a sit-in protest in their locality today.
Meanwhile, BJP, Manipur Pradesh has appealed to all opposition political parties in the State to stand together against the Bill.
The appeal was made by BJP Manipur spokesperson RK Shivachandra during a press conference here on Thursday. The Bill passed in the Assembly was totally different from the recommendation made by the All Political Parties Committee (APPC) for the introduction of Inner Line Permit System (ILPS) in Manipur. The step taken by the government is nothing but betrayal of the APPC, alleged the BJP spokesman.
