DHUBRI, Sept 23 - In an armed excise raid carried out jointly by the Dhubri Police and Excise officials at different places of the district under the direct supervision of the Superintendent of Excise, Dhubri on Sunday evening, more than 100 litres of illicit liquor were seized and three persons were arrested.
The raid was carried out at remote places of the district like Beguntoli, Majhipara, Belguri, Halakura, etc., where unscrupulous liquor vendors were running their business for quite some time. One person was arrested from Majhipara near Gauripur town, whereas two were nabbed from Belguri. Excise officials also informed that in the market area of Halakura, two makeshift huts were searched, where a sizeable quantity of illicit liquor was recovered, even as the culprit managed to flee. The three arrested persons along with the seized items were brought to the Dhubri Excise Camp, Nuniapatty and due judicial proceedings are being followed.
Police informed that four cases have been registered in this regard and a total of four litres of IMFL and 110 litres of illicit local liquors were seized.
