DHUBRI, Sept 7 - Timber worth more than Rs 25 lakh loaded in three trucks were seized by Forest officials on Wednesday morning at Monipur village near Makrijhara area of Dhubri district.
According to Forest officials, the timber-laden trucks came from Dima Hasao and were parked in the village near NH-31. The seizure was made in a joint operation by the Forest officials of Lower Assam Division (LAD), Guwahati and Dhubri Division led by Jashim Uddin Ahmed of LAD. The officials said that they followed the trucks from Guwahati and finally seized the timber at Monipur village.
The drivers of the trucks, identified as Ram Das, Dilip Das and Bimal Roy, were being grilled by the officials. This is not the first time that the Forest officials seized the smuggled timber in the district.
