HAILAKANDI, July 19 - In a surprise raid, personnel from the Assam Forest Protection Force (AFPF), CRPF and Assam Police dismantled four illegal saw mills in Hailakandi district recently.
Headed by Divisional Forest Officer, Hailakandi Division, NH Mazumder, the team raided saw mills at Boalipar, Narainpur, Matijuri and Katlicherra bus stand in Hailakandi town and confiscated timber and equipment worth over Rs 1 lakh.
Mazumder said the seized items were being kept in the DFO premises.
On July 13, the Hailakandi forest division seized two trucks loaded with illegal timber and a truck laden with sand worth over Rs 30,000.
