Illegal sacking of teacher in DPS Nazira alleged

By ANN Service

SIVASAGAR, Aug 27 - The most frequent allegation against DPS in Assam is its policy of non-confirming posts of local teachers, and even illegal sacking, besides high handedness by north Indian teachers and principals.

A case of seemingly illegal termination of a teachers post surfaced here again in Sivasagar recently.

One Himashree Gogoi was appointed against advertisement (DPS/NZR/A/Admn/ADVT/2/2018/3211) for PRT History permanent post in Social Science following an interview held on July 21, 2018. She was asked to conduct demo classes from July 25 and continue the same till the appointment letter arrived. Principal Partha Sarathi Sarkar allegedly gave her an appointment letter (DPS/NZR/2018-19/Appointment/HG1 dated 01.08.2018) only after eight months, i.e., in February last, where it was mentioned that her appointment was purely contractual and she would not get any salary during summer vacation.

According to Himashree, the Principal arbitrarily terminated her service on 1/8/2019 when the teacher asked for a review of her appointment in the light of the advertisement with pay package entitled for a regular teacher.

Now the aggrieved teacher is approaching the ONGC authority for justice. It is also alleged that the Principal is clearing the road for appointment of the wife of an ONGC higher officer who has reportedly been conducting the demo classes in the subject after removing Himashree from the post.

As per another allegation, the Principal has been adopting anti-local stand since long and appointed one Goswami from West Bengal while a number of qualified local candidates applied for the post in Chemistry PGT in 2017.

Again, against an advertisement for a dance teacher, six candidates with appropriate qualification applied, but the Principal allegedly appointed one without the minimum qualifications.
