Illegal power connections at forest office

GUWAHATI, April 24 - The Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd has detected illegal power connections on the Panbari Forest Range office premises and in the Panbari Forest Colony, Bongaigaon.

According to a press release issued by the APDCL, a case has been registered in this connection with the Kokrajhar Assam State Electricity Board (ASEB) Special Police Station against Bijoyanand Vogra, Ranger and four forest office personnel � Almber Basumatary, Rajani Brahma, Kriti Mohan Brahma and Ajoy Basumatary.

The APDCL said in its press release that its vigilance cell detected the power theft case on April 18 during an anti-theft drive undertaken by it.

The vigilance team was led by APDCL�s Bongaigaon Vigilance Officer and it was accompanied by the Sub-divisional Electrical Officer, Bijni Electrical Sub-division and officials of Panbari Police Station. The team conducted a surprise raid in the Panbari Forest Range Office premises and the Panbari Forest Colony that day.

During the raid, it was found that the Forest Office quarter of the Forest Ranger and four other staff quarters were drawing power illegally. The connections were removed by the vigilance team and it also seized the materials used for power theft, said the APDCL in its press release.
