Illegal banners, hoardings being removed by GMC

By CITY CORRESPONDENT

GUWAHATI, April 30 - The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has been removing illegal hoardings and banners across the city. Five hoardings and 966 banners have already been removed in five places of the city under the drive in the last few days.

All these hoardings were put up without the GMCs permission.

In a statement, the Corporation has urged the advertising agencies concerned to repay their dues within five days.

Stringent action will be initiated soon if the dues are not paid; these firms would be barred from carrying out any sort of advertisements within Guwahati, the statement added.

Several agencies have put up hoardings and banners without the Corporations permission and some have been put up after the completion of the programme, the statement said, while asserting that from now on, the GMC will slap fine on these agencies in this regard.
