GUWAHATI, June 8 - The Kamrup Metro district administration, along with Sonapur District Hospital, organised an awareness meeting on various services provided by the health department and its line departments on Wednesday.

At the meeting Dispur MLA Atul Bora, District Development Commissioner of Kamrup Metro Barnali Sharma, Additional Deputy Commissioner Palash Pratim Bora, Joint Director of Health Services Dr Ganesh Saikia, Circle Officer of Sonapur Dhruba Hazarika, Superintendent of Sonapur District Hospital S Dhar and other senior officials were present.

Sharma said that the main objective of the meeting was to make the public aware about various government services meant for them.

She said the health department should work in convergence with the social welfare, education and PHE departments.

She said that the government is now providing many schemes for public benefit, but due to ignorance they have not been able to avail the benefits of the schemes.

�Therefore, this sort of platform is meant for making the public aware,� Sharma said, and also spoke about such schemes provided by the health department, education department and the Housing Board.

Additional DC Palash Pratim Bora requested all the department employees to maintain discipline and come to office on time so that they can provide their services sincerely.

Dr Saikia spoke about new health schemes like Atal Amrit Abhiyan and on how to avail such benefits. He requested the line department heads to cooperate along with the health workers at the field level.

MLA Bora said that as the Sonapur District Hospital serves a huge population, every health worker should be responsible for providing the best health services. He said no one should die without medical care and treatment and hence, all should do their respective duties.

Bora assured that very soon he would take necessary action for engagement of required manpower at the District Hospital and make it fully operative.

Hazarika requested the health workers, government employees and public to work in harmony so that a conducive environment exists and services could be rendered to the public in the best way possible.
