GUWAHATI, June 13 - Women�s Hub, a group of young girls and ladies involved in various socio-cultural activities and empowerment of women, recently organised an all-faith iftar get-together at the Guwahati Blind School in which about 100 people including the students of the school participated.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhaben Barman, Principal of the school said, �It is indeed a memorable day today for we are having the first ever iftar get-together at our school. Even though we have a few students observing roja here, we never had an iftar programme before.�
Dr Swabera Islam, former principal of KC Das Commerce College and a senior member of Women�s Hub, deliberated on the background and the objective of holding the iftar programme.
Columnist and writer Mitra Phukan, Gurpreet Singh Uppal, a practising lawyer of the Gauhati High Court, Dr Navanil Barua from the GNRC Hospitals, Florence Handique Rabha, teacher and TV anchor, Assamese singer Kalpana Patowari, Aman Wadud and Nurul Laskar, representing the Stars of North East Group among others, took part in the programme.
