Ideas sought for education sector reforms

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Oct 21 Assam Down Town University has launched a campaign to encourage the general public to come forward with their ideas to bring reforms in the education sector. This initiative has been taken by the educational institute in connection to the Human Resources Development (HRD) Ministrys keenness to garner ideas from this region.

It needs to be mentioned here that HRD Minister Smriti Irani has invited people to come up with innovative ideas and projects to transform the education system in the country. The ministry has created a webpage on its new website, appealing to people to submit their ideas and projects online in 500 words which can be implemented in 12 months.

Those interested can submit their ideas to us which we will select and refine and forward to the ministry, said a functionary of the university adding that the Minister, during her visit to the university, had asked ideas from the region.

The last date for submission of ideas and project proposals to the ministry is October 29.

Winners, too, will be given a chance to implement their ideas in the field. For submitting ideas to the university, the last date is October 26.

We are running this campaign to create awareness on this and would request everyone to give their ideas, either directly to the ministry or to us. It is important that region-specific ideas from the State are given, said the functionary adding that only the public can understand how to solve the region- specific problems.
