GUWAHATI, July 29 � Idd-ul-Fitr was celebrated across the State today with religious fervour and traditional pomp and gaiety.
The festival marked the end of the holy Islamic month of Ramadan with Muslims offering prayers at Iddgahs and mosques.
Thousands of men and children clad in new attire and wearing skull caps offered special Idd in Iddgahs or open grounds and mosques in Guwahati and across the state.
The occasion was marked with special joy and fervour. Gifts were exchanged and people greeted their elders, friends and family members.
Families prepared choicest delicacies. Special donations were made by the faithful to the poor and the needy.
