GUWAHATI, Jan 23 - The Senior Inter District Hockey Championship, which has been counted as a trial event for the forthcoming 12th South Asian Games (SAG) began at the Maulana Md Tayabulla Hockey Stadium, Bhetapara here today.
Altogether 16 teams are taking part in the four-day knock-out meet. The championship is organised by the Assam Hockey under the guidance of Hockey India.
Assam Hockey president and joint secretary of the Hockey India Nazrin Hussain formally inaugurated the championship this morning in presence of SAI city centre director Subhash Basumatary, Assam Hockey vice president DD Khound and secretary Tapan Kumar Das.
Samaguri Hockey Academy and Nagaon entered the semifinal stage today defeating Kaliabor and Dibrugarh respectively in the quarterfinals.
