GUWAHATI, June 23 - The Dinesh Saikia Memorial 3rd Youth Inter District Basketball Championship got off to a colourful start at the Basketball Association of Assam�s court in the RG Baruah Sports Complex here today.
State Sports Minister Naba Kumar Doley formally inaugurated the championship where a total of 12 boys and 9 girls teams are taking part.
Bina Saikia, wife of Dinesh Saikia was present in the opening ceremony as guest.
In the thrilling inaugural match Morigaon boys edged past Sonitpur 36-31. In another keenly contested match Kamrup pipped NC Hills 52-50.
The final match is slated for June 25 at 4 PM.
