ICSI steps for better future of NE youths

GUWAHATI, Nov 26 - The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), having taken cognizance of education as one of the most crucial indices of socio-economic development of the north-eastern region, has introduced various constructive steps for the youths of the region to groom them professionally and improve their employability.

�To break the distance barrier and facilitate better provisions for the students of the region, ICSI has waived off 50 per cent fees for students registering for the Company Secretary Course from the north-eastern states and established ICSI study centres in all the eight states. In furtherance to these concrete measures, ICSI recently signed various MoUs with the universities and institutes of the region under the ICSI Academic Collaboration Initiative,� it said in a statement.

The varsities and institutes include ICFAI University Sikkim, Sikkim Manipal University, Apex Professional University, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam Don Bosco University, Assam Royal Global University and Manipur University Manipur.

The objective of the MoUs is to facilitate a comprehensive partnership in the areas of joint academic research, joint workshops, professional development and faculty development programmes along with sharing of resources and participation at regional and national conferences.

�The collaboration would help in imparting knowledge along with honing the skills of students, academicians and professionals of these institutes. ICSI has always supported the government�s initiatives of accelerated and inclusive growth and to further contribute to the same, ICSI is extending its presence in the North East by partnering with these institutes. This would help in fostering the relationship between the institutes and would combat the adversity acclaimed in the region, in promoting quality executive education here,� Ashish Garg, president, ICSI, said.
