ICSI meet begins in Shillong today

GUWAHATI, June 23 - The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) is organising its 18th National Conference of Practising Company Secretaries on the theme Enterprising India � Role of Professionals in New Age India in Shillong on June 24 and 25.

Addressing a press conference here today, Dr Shyam Agrawal, president, ICSI, said, �With India emerging as one of the fastest growing economies in the world, entrepreneurship hold the key to support and accelerate growth to a higher level.�

He said that the Government is promoting innovative fields of entrepreneurship which will help support employment, utilisation of skills, skill development and boost FDI. �Now is the time that company secretaries optimally unleash their professional acumen, seize the opportunities offered by the Government, and perform a dual role � first as a young and profound entrepreneur and secondly as a compliance officer,� he said.

Agarwal said that a company secretary could immensely support the Government of India in realising �Ease of doing Business� drive for entrepreneurs and enterprising businesses contributing towards �New India�.
