IMPHAL, May 9 - Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh will lead a delegation of all political parties to the national capital to urge the Union Government to give assent to the three pending bills for the implementation of Inner Line Permit(ILP) system in the State.
A decision was taken in this regard by the representatives of all political parties in a meeting held at CM�s Secretariat here today. The proposed trip of the delegation will be in between May 16-20, sources said.
�The representatives have discussed the current situation relating to the three pending bills��, said an official statement. �After threadbare and serious discussion, the political parties meeting resolved that delegates of all political parties led by the Chief Minister be deputed to New Delhi to urge upon the Government of India to give assent to the three bills passed unanimously by the Manipur Assembly on August 31, 2015, at the earliest.�
The Bills in question are the Protection of Manipur Peoples Bill, 2015, The Manipur Land Revenue & Land Reforms (7th Amendment) Bill 2015 and The Manipur Shops and Establishment (MS&E) (2nd Amendment) Bill 2015.
The ILP, which was introduced by the British Government to protect their commercial interests in the North East, is a special pass that is required to enter Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Mizoram.
Meanwhile, public demonstration demanding implementation of ILP system continues in the State. A large number of torch bearing women accompanied by volunteers of local clubs had staged a rally on Sunday night while school and college going students staged demonstrations in Imphal on Monday.
Earlier, the State units of BJP, Nationalist Congress Party, Lok Janasakti Party and regional parties such as Manipur People�s Party and others have pledged support to the people�s movement for enactment of a constitutional safeguard for protection of the native people
of Manipur.
