Ibobi for eco-friendly Housing Policy

IMPHAL, Jan 24 � Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh on Friday said his government will formulate an eco-friendly Housing Policy in the State where every house or building has the provision to produce energy through solar energy.

The Chief Minister expressed his concern over the present mode of housing and building construction in the State, particularly in the city areas while speaking at the valedictory session of the three-day national seminar on Science and Technology for Human Development which is being held at Manipur University.

Besides Chief Minister Prof HNK Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Manipur University, also attended the function as functional president of the seminar which was jointly organised by Indian Science Congress Association, Imphal chapter and Manipur University under the sponsorship of the Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA). Many university professors, scientists and scholars also attended the gathering.

Young Scientist Awards were also presented to four scholars/scientists during the valedictory function. The awards which carry a cash award, a citation and a memento each were handed over to the young scientists by the Chief Minister. The recipients of the awards include Saikat Kumar Seth of Indian Association of Cultivation of Sciences, Kolkata Ksh Beliya Luxmi of Department of Anthropology, Manipur University, Shyam Maisnam of Department of Life Sciences, Manipur University and Yumnam Bembem of Department of Mathematics for �Cosmological models with variable G and A�, also of Manipur University.
