Ibobi expected back in Imphal today

By Correspondent

IMPHAL, March 16 - Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh and Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam are in Delhi for the second day on Wednesday following the rift in the Congress legislature party in the State.

The two State leaders had rushed to the national capital on Tuesday following AICC President Sonia Gandhis summons to them.

Last week, a group of Congress legislators numbering around 25 lodged a complaint with AICC president urging her to review the performances of some Ministers in the Council of Ministers who have failed to maintain transparency. They sought a reshuffle in the Ministry and adoption of the partys one man, one post policy, sources said. It may be noted that Deputy CM Gaikhangam is also the President of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee.

The dissident legislators, however, conveyed to the AICC chief that they still have faith in the leadership of Ibobi and that they would fight the coming election under his leadership.

The move is to strengthen the party (in view of the upcoming polls), said a dissident Congress legislator who declined to be named.

Meanwhile, speculation is rife that a reshuffle of the Ministry is expected by March 20 following the proposed visit of AICC North East in-charge V Narayanswami to the State on March 18. The Chief Minister is scheduled to return here on Thursday.
