TEZPUR, Nov 21 � President of India and the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Pranab Mukherjee presenting the prestigious President�s Standard (award) to 115 Helicopter Unit and 26 Squadron in a grand ceremonial parade at the Tezpur Air Force Station this morning said that he was happy to be at Tezpur Air Force Station, one of the premier air bases of Indian Air Force in the eastern sector to confer awards to the two units of the air force which have distinguished flying units with a glorious past and a rich tradition of professional excellence.
�Their rich heritage and stellar efforts in the pursuit of excellence have set a benchmark for others to emulate. For their selfless devotion, professionalism and courage in the face of adversity, the nation honours them today with a deep sense of gratitude and appreciation,� he said adding the Indian Air Force has always been at the forefront in the projection of the nation�s might.
Besides it�s role of safeguarding the sovereignty of the nation, it has always been a harbinger of humanitarian aid within the borders, he said.
�From Kanyakumari to the mighty Himalayas, the resilience and tenacity of the air warriors has been a source of tremendous pride for the nation.
