I want to become an IPS officer: Achyut

SIVASAGAR, May 28 � Sivasagar once again shone in the field of education by bagging top four positions along with the first spot in the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examination, 2014.

Four students of the district secured positions among the toppers in the State. Achyut Ranjan Gogoi of Nazira Jatiya Vidyalaya topped the list with a total of 585 marks (97.5%), while Jyotimoy Saikia of LBS Vidya Niketan, Demow and Upashana Deka of BP Baruah Memorial HS School, Sonari shared the 4th position with 577 marks each (96.16%). Kashyap Gogoi of Dikshu High School, secured the 7th position with total marks of 574 (95.66 %).

A total of 14,603 students appeared in the HSLC Examination 2014 in Sivasagar district, out of whom 10,160 students passed successfully. A total of 2,434 students secured first division, 3,933 students secured second division, and 3,793 secured third division.

Holding the first position in the State was quite unexpected for Achyut Ranjan Gogoi, son of Arun Gogoi and Anila Gogoi of Nazira.While talking to mediapersons, he said that he had hoped to do well, but was not so sure that he would manage to secure the first position. Expressing gratitude to his teachers, parents and his well-wishers, he said that he wants to become an IPS officer. At present he hopes to take admission in DPS, Nazira.

On the other hand, the pass percentage of Sibsagar Govt HS and MP School is 100, where four secured distinction and 15 star marks. In Phuleswari Girls High School, the pass percentage is 98.5, where two students secured distinction and nine secured star marks, in Thanuram Gogoi Memorial HS School the pass percentage is 93, while in Bezbaruah HS School the pass percentage is 94.
