I-D matches end in draw

GUWAHATI, March 29 � Both the semifinal round robin league matches of the Nuruddin Trophy Elite Group Senior Inter District Cricket Tournament ended in draw. On first innings lead, Nagaon and Dibrugarh earned three points each against Guwahati and Charaideo respectively.

Chasing Dibrugarh�s first innings total of 424 at the Nehru Stadium here on the final day today, Charaideo, overnight 197 for six, were all out for 320 and thereby conceded a lead of 104 runs.

In the second innings, Dibrugarh were 222 for the loss of six wickets when stumps were finally drawn. Saurav Bhagawati scored 92 off 123 balls. He hit five boundaries and one sixer.

For Charaideo, apart from Sanjib Dutta, who cracked 113 yesterday and Abinash Terang (57) no other batsman could hit form. Spinner Deepak Gohain (5/69) and Amit Boro (3/57) were the leading wicket-takers for Dibrugarh.

At the Barsapara stadium, after conceding a 117-run first innings lead, Guwahati batted through the final day and gathered 326 for eight. Sunzow Brahma hit 109 off 156 balls. His knock was studded with 10 boundaries and two sixes.
