SILCHAR, Dec 1 Riding on a brilliant 142 by Sundeep Rajan and a well made 65 by Vamshi Vardhan, Hyderabad amassed 423 before declaring their first innings after losing six wickets. They took 214-run lead against Assam in the Col CK Nayudu Trophy match.

On the third day of the four-day match at the SM Dev Stadium here today, Assam were 16 for one at stumps in their second innings.

Sundeep and Vamshi continued from where they left overnight and dominated the Assam bowling attack which lacked the venom after the hammering on Day II.

Let down by some poor fielding and catches being dropped, Amit Sinha and his boys never looked like taking wickets. Injuries haunted the home side on Sunday as well with wicket-keeper Rajdeep Das going back in the pavilion after being hit on the hand and right foot.

Brief scores: Assam A 1st innings 209.

Hyderabad A 1st innings: 423 for 6 dec (Sundeep Rajan 142, Vamshi Vardhan 65, Nimesh Reddy 86, Sai Anurag 54, Rohit Rayudu 50).
