NORTH LAKHIMPUR, Oct 7: Hundreds of cows and goats have been dying in the last six months at Subansiri Chapori of Lakhimpur district in diseases unknown to the local herders.
The river islands of Subansiri have large cattle farms where thousands of buffalos, cows and goats are kept by the local people for dairy and livestock businesses.
But in the last six months, these animals have been dying, causing huge losses to the traditional cattle herders of this riverine area.
The herders say that their animals are dying after grazing on the grass which was submerged during the monsoon.
