UDALGURI, May 8 - Based on specific intelligence inputs provided by a source, a joint operation was launched by BoP Balemu and BoP 4200 under the supervision of Pramod Kumar Agrawal, Commandant of 61st Battalion of SSB based at Bhairabkunda on May 3 at Dimachang forest area of West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh bordering Udalguri district. The operation resulted in the recovery of six sacks of cannabis weighting around 132 kg.
As the security personnel were planning to lay an ambush inside the jungle despite inclement weather on May 4, a gang of smugglers who were transporting the cannabis somehow sensed the presence of the security men and fled the place after dumping their stock of cannabis.
Only last month the SSB was able to seize huge stocks of ganja and nab the persons behind the clandestine trade.
