BARPETA, May 8 - A huge quantity of rice meant for public distribution system (PDS) and a rice-laden truck were seized during a raid by the officials from the Anti Corruption Cell in association with the police at Kahibari near here today.
According to available information, a joint team led by Pinaki Prasad Mishra and Pratim Gogoi, both inspectors of Anti Corruption Cell, DSP Samiran Baishya and Barpeta circle officer Nabajit Pathak conducted the raid in a warehouse at Kahibari and found 840 bags of rice meant for PDS stored illegally there. The warehouse was sealed following the raid.
The team also seized a rice-laden truck there, bearing registration no. AS 01 GC 3136. Apart from rice bags, a scooter was also seized from the truck.
