TURA, May 24 � Girls from Aeroville Secondary School and Don Bosco College in Tura brought fame to Garo Hills by topping the Secondary and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examinations (SSLC & HSSLC) results of which were declared by MBoSE on Monday.
Shresta Saha of Aeroville Secondary School bagged the first position in Meghalaya in the SSLC examinations while Cherian Kamchi T Sangma of Don Bosco College walked away with the top position in the HSSLC results.
The overall pass percentage for SSLC examinations was 45.05 per cent while that of the HSSLC was 51.77 per cent.
East Khasi Hills district recorded the highest pass percentage of 43 per cent, followed by West Garo Hills with 17 per cent. Jaintia Hills, West Khasi Hills, Ri-bhoi and East Garo Hills were at the bottom with pass percentages of 13 pc, 12 pc, six pc and 6 pc in the SSLC exam.
St. Mary�s Higher Secondary School, Shillong, bagged as many as four top positions. St. Margaret�s Higher Secondary School, Shillong got two positions, St. Peter�s School, Shillong, also bagged two positions, KJP Girls Higher Secondary School, Shillong, bagged two while KJP Synod Mihngi HS School, Jowai, secured one position along with St. Anthony�s HS School, Shillong, Laban Bengalee Boys HS SChool, St. Nanak Secondary School and Eribin Presbyterian Secondary School, Shillong.
The second position in the SSLC examination went to Abhishek Buragohain of St. Peter�s School, Shillong while the third position was bagged by Gaurav Ghose also of St. Peter�s.
The 4th position was jointly shared by three students, Jeniffer N Nongrum of St. Mary�s HS School, Shillong, Nilabhra Paul of Laban Bengalee Boys HS School, Shillong, and Mintu Paul of St. Nanak Secondary School, Shillong.
St. Mary�s bagged as many as four positions in the top ten list of the State in HSSLC (Arts) examinations.
