IMPHAL, Feb 17 - The High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examination 2020 began on Monday in 140 examination centres across Manipur. English was the first paper in the examinations.
Altogether, 38,664 candidates � 19,624 females and 19,040 males � are appearing in the HSLC Examination 2020. The examination conducted by the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BoSEM) will continue till March 5.
In an interesting development, a 12-year-old, Issac Paulallungmuan Vaiphei, a resident of Kangvai village in Churachandpur district, is also appearing in the examination.
The BoSEM has taken all necessary measures to conduct the examination in a free and fair manner. For this, supervising officers, officers-in-charge of examination centres, assistant officers-in-charge, supervising invigilators and flying squads have been engaged for smooth conduct of the examination, according to BoSEM officials.
Around 7,000-8,000 professionals will be involved in conducting the examination, which will see new reforms such as new answer scripts having margins for all subjects, except mathematics, graphs and maps and watermarks of respective subjects, official sources said.
Meanwhile, eight candidates who appeared in the examination in five schools were expelled for impersonation during the first day of the examination, BoSEM sources said.
With the beginning the class 10 examinations, state capital Imphal witnessed heavy traffic in almost all the roads during the day as it coincided with the ongoing Manipur Legislative Assembly session.
