GUWAHATI, Oct 31 � The inaugural OIL-IEI, ASC HP Barua Memorial Fellowship was presented to Dr Utpal Kumar Nath, Assistant Professor in the Civil Engineering Department of Assam Engineering College (AEC), here today.
The 16th HP Barua Memorial Lecture was also held during the event at the IEI, ASC campus here.
The fellowship, instituted for the first time by the Institution of Engineers (India) Assam State Centre (IEI, ASC) and supported by OIL, is worth Rs 5 lakh and was granted to Nath for his project �Full Scale Experimental Study of Pile Cap Lateral Resistance� after a rigorous selected process by a joint committee and an expert committee.
The fellowship is meant to recognise active engineers, researchers and technologists below the age of 45 years for outstanding performance and contributions in newly emerging frontier areas of engineering and technology. The research focus should have benefit for the North Eastern region.
