GUWAHATI, Oct 19 - Hosts NorthEast United FC will face defending champions Chennaiyin FC in the Indian Super League match at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, here tomorrow.
Leading the points table with 10 points from five matches, another win against the defending champions will open a clear five-point gap at the top of the table.
I am sure that in Guwahati and other regions in the Northeast, people will take pride in these players and this team. We reached 10 points so far, which is good but we have not yet reached our target, which is to play the semifinals, said NorthEast manager Nelo Vingada.
NorthEast managed a fighting 1-1 draw against Delhi Dynamos in the previous match.
Even in the first year, NorthEast stunned Chennaiyin FC, then leading the table, with a flurry of goals in the first session.
