MANGALDAI, Sept 2 - P Rajesh, Principal of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) of Udmari in Darrang district has been selected for the National Teacher�s Award -2018 by the Union Ministry of HRD.
P Rajesh is the only teacher selected for this prestigious award among all the applicant teachers representing nearly 600 JNVs across the country.
The award, which carries a certificate of merit, a silver medal and a cash prize of Rs 50,000 is scheduled to be presented at a special award ceremony organised on the occasion of Teacher�s Day celebration at the Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.
The news of selection of P Rajesh for the National Teacher�s Award has obviously made the students, teaching and non-teaching staff of JNV, Darrang, besides the parents, members of Vidyalaya Management Committee (VMC) jubilant.
�P Rajesh, a teacher with more than 20 years of experience joined JNV, Darrang as its Principal some two years back. As a Principal, he was instrumental for introducing vibrant changes in the Vidyalaya, both in scholastic and co-scholastic areas. In 2018, JNV Darrang achieved significant improvement in CBSE examination results under Guwahati cluster. The school also received Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar from the Union Ministry of HRD in 2018.
�He really deserves such a recognition and I offer my sincere congratulations to him on this very special occasion of his professional career,� said Ashok Kumar Barman, former DC of Darrang, who had been closely associated with JNV, Darrang.
