Honour for Assamese film in Mexico fest

GUWAHATI, May 23 - Assamese feature film Barsharanya (The Rainforest), produced by Ikramul Mazid and directed by Diganta Mazumdar, has won the Golden Palm Award in the �Environmental� category of the prestigious Mexico International Film Festival.

The film with script by Jiten Sarma was made under the banner of Alternative Cinematics. The cast includes Tapan Das, Arun Nath, Tanthoi Devi and Debajit Mazumdar.

The Head Hunter, the first film in Wancho tribal language and only the third film to come out of Arunachal Pradesh, won the �Best Screenplay Award� at the festival. The film has been directed by Assamese filmmaker Nilanjan Datta who grew up in Arunachal Pradesh. It won the best film award in the Wancho language at the National Film Awards of 2015.
