Honey-trapping cases in Bongaigaon, Chirang

BONGAIGAON, Feb 25 - Honey-trapping cases have came to light after the police rescued two abducted traders, each of Bongaigaon and Chirang districts, from two separate places recently.

A 31-year-old trader, who runs a fodder shop at Barpara in Bongaigaon town, had gone missing from the town on February 13 evening. The trader�s family later received calls from the captors who demanded Rs 1 crore for his release. The police, on being informed by the family members, soon launched search operation in the district. They somehow nabbed a woman on suspicion and with the inputs provided by her, rescued the trader on February 17 afternoon from a village near the Bongaigaon-Kokrajhar border.

The woman, who was arrested in this connection, was running a honey-trap racket with miscreants with native of Chirang and Kokrajhar districts.

Another small trader, Ainul Haque, who runs a small shop at Tulsijhora and resides in the same locality, went missing after he closed his shop on February 17 and his family had informed the police about it. Police rescued him on Thursday night from Bilasipara area in Dhubri district and arrested six persons who had abducted the trader in a honey-trapping case and demanded Rs 20 lakh from his family for his release, police said.
