Home Commissioner visits border areas

JORHAT, Sept 9 � Assam home commissioner Jishnu Boruah today visited the Assam-Nagaland border in Sivasagar district and took stock of the condition of the border outposts (BOP) there. He is scheduled to visit the interstate border in Jorhat and Golaghat districts tomorrow and day after tomorrow respectively.

NM Hussain, DC, Sivasagar district who was with the home commissioner during his visit told this correspondent that the commissioner checked the prevailing condition of the BOPs there. He further took stock of the various development works in the border areas of the district.

Boruah visited Namtola, Taokak, Sbhoyapuri Reserve forest, Geleki Reserve forest and Lakua areas along Assam-Nagaland Border.

Tomorrow, the commissioner will visit the Assam-Nagaland border in Jorhat district. It is to be mentioned here that most of the 13 BOPs in Jorhat district do not have required facilities. There is no electricity connection in some of them.
