GUWAHATI, June 27 The Kamrup Metro district administration, which is drew flak from people across the city on account of its empty boasts of pre-monsoon work and resultant massive flooding in Guwahati, has declared holiday at all educational institutions, including schools and colleges in the city tomorrow.

In an official statement this evening, the district administration said that all educational institutions in the city will remain closed on June 28 on account of flood and continuous rainfall.

While the administration did declare holiday for one day, there has been no statement from any senior official regarding measures to prevent

recurrence of the calamity that befell the city today.

As per reports, students of many educational institutions were unable to attend their classes today due to inundated streets.

Experts and concerned citizens expressed dismay that while the district administration is quick to take one-way steps like ordering closure of schools, it fails to address long-term issues.
