By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, March 17 - Along with the rest of the country, Assam got immersed in the myriad colours of Holi, celebrating the auspicious and fun-filled occasion with all the traditional fervour.

Vibrant hues everywhere changed the drab look of the towns and the capital city as people splashed each other with colours and coloured water.

Warm greetings and sweets were exchanged between friends and families, and the festive occasion also brought people from different castes and creeds together. Citizens from various religious backgrounds took part in the revelries, further strengthening the bond of camaraderie and unity.

In keeping with the tradition, citizens also visited the community prayer halls and temples seeking the blessings of Lord Krishna. The Holi Geet that is integral to the festival, were sung praising the glory of Lord Krishna.

To mark the occasion, different programmes were organised in the capital city. However, in some instances, the festivities created nuisance as a section of youths threw colours and mud at unsuspecting passersby.
