Hojai rape case: Death penalty to main accused

GUWAHATI, Aug 1 - A fasttrack court today awarded death sentence to the main accused in the rape and murder of a school teacher at Jamunamukh in Hojai last year. Two persons were convicted on July 24 and the quantum of punishment was pronounced today.

The Additional District and Sessions Judge awarded death sentence to Moinul Haque and life imprisonment to Salimuddin. On May 31, 2017, Arnomoi Bora (55), headmistress of Ilasi Deuri Primary School, was raped and murdered while she was returning home after duty. Her body was thrown into the Kopili river.
