HNLC calls bandh on Monday

SHILLONG, Feb 14 � A 12-hour bandh has been called on Monday by the banned Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC).

The bandh has been called in protest against the alleged injustice to the Christian community in the national Capital, injustice to drivers on the National Highways and delay in tabling the Mookhep (Jaintia Hills) firing probe report.

The bandh would come into effect in Khasi-Jaintia Hills region from 5 am to 5 pm. In a statement issued here the outfit alleged the BJP has started attacking Christians and other minorities in the national Capital.

Meanwhile, in view of the bandh, security has been beefed up in the State Capital with additional troops being deployed.
