Hmar People's Convention chief in police net

SILCHAR, May 10: Based on secret inputs, Cachar Police along with 37 Bn of Assam Rifles led by Lt Col J Lama and intelligence wing of Indian Army at Masinpur carried out an operation on Thursday night and apprehended Lalhminthang Senate, president of the Hmar People's Convention (HPC) from Chiripul area of Lakhipur constituency.

During search operation, one .32 bore pistol with 2 live rounds were recovered from his possession. A case has been registered at Lakhipur police station vide Lakipur PS case no. 116/19 u/s 120(B)/121/121(A)/384/506/302 IPC RW u/s 25(1-B) (a) Arms Act.

According to police, Senate is the main leader of the anti-talk faction of HPC and has been in the forefront for all kinds of nefracious activities for suspension of SOS agreement between the HPC(D) and the State government.

Police further said Senate is leading HPC (President) faction which mainly carries out activities in Mizoram and Assam- Manipur border areas.
