GUWAHATI, Feb 15 - On the occasion of its annual function and prize distribution ceremony, Karmashree Hiteswar Saikia College honoured social worker Govind Bordoloi with the Bishesh Xeuwa Bota 2020 for his dedicated service towards the mother community of the State through his organisation Maa, at a function held at the college on Saturday, said a press release.
The award, consisting of a citation, a gamosa and a token cash amount, was given to Bordoloi by veteran artiste Sudakhina Sarma, who was also feted on the occasion with a gamosa and cash for her significant contributions towards the world of Assamese songs and music.
Sarma and her son Rishiraj sang some evergreen songs on the occasion. Singer Gitali Kakoti also presented her popular Assamese numbers.
The college also felicitated its student Nabajyoti Baishya with a citation and a token cash award for his success in national and international aainball and football competitions and bringing laurels to the college.
The cultural function held on the occasion was inaugurated by the college�s Principal Dr Sikhamoni Konwar, while the programmes were conducted by Indrani Gogoi Paniphukan and anchored by Dr Marami Choudhury. The cultural function was marked by enthusiastic participation of the teachers and the students of the college, the release added.
