NORTH LAKHIMPUR, May 7 - In an exemplary move towards inter-faith amity, a Hindu family in North Lakhimpur donated a piece of land for a Muslim burial ground. The family members of late Karunakanta Bhuyan of Garehaga donated a land measuring 1 bigha 2 katha and 19 lechas to Nahar Pukhuri Kabarstan near North Lakhimpur railway station on Sunday.

A meeting was organized by the governing body of Nahar Pukhuri Kabarstan Committee where family members of late Karunakanta Bhuyan were felicitated. Chaired by retired professor Dr Hamidur Rahman, the meet felicitated Jayanta Kumar Dutta, Dibakar Dutta, Anjan Kumar Bhuyan, Deba Pratim Dutta and Pranab Dutta.

It may be mentioned here that the Nahar Pukhuri Kabarstan shares its boundary with a Hindu crematorium ground.
